CHRISTOPHER VAMOS                 BRAZILIAN JIUJITSU INSTRUCTOR

Chris has been training in the martial arts for over 25 years.  He began studying Tae-Kwon-Do and Karate at a very young age.  When he moved to Long Island as a teenager Chris started studying Kempo Karate and then moved on to Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.  He trained and competed in the traditional martial art circuit  on Long Island for well over 10 years and achieved the rank of Black Belt in both Northern Shaolin and Kempo  from two different teachers.  

After years of traditional martial arts training Chris discovered Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and finally found what he was looking for.  Due to his disciplined training in the past, hard work, and dedication, Chris achieved the rank of Black Belt in Brazlian Jiu-jitsu in January 2010 from Renzo Grace Blackbelt Joe D'Arce. 

Chris is known for his dedication to the art of BJJ and his ability to teach others.  He teaches and trains with his students everyday and is always willing to share his knowledge with anyone willing to learn. 

In addition to his martial arts achievments, Chris is a former high school math teacher and has both his Bachlor's and Masters degrees  in Mathematics from Stony Brook University.  He stopped teaching full time to focus more on his academy, and currently teaches math part time at Suffolk Community College. 

ALEXANDER VAMOS                      BRAZILIAN JIUJITSU INSTRUCTOR

Alex Vamos has been studying martial arts for most of his life.  Before training in Brazilian Jiujitsu Alex was already a competitive black belt in both Kempo Karate and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. 

When Alex discovered BJJ he knew that he found what he was looking for.  He began training hard and competing in the sport right away.  In January of 2010 Alex achieved the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Renzo Gracie Black Belt Joe D'Arce. 

Alex, along with his brother is the head BJJ instructor at Vamos Brazilian Jiujtisu.  As well as being an amazing competitor, Alex is also an excellent teacher and is known for his  his ability to breakdown technique, making it simple to understand.   Alex has also proven to lead by example and motivates many to live healthier and more balanced lives.

Besides his martial arts achievments, Alex is a certfied acupuncturist and recieved his masters degree in Chinese Medicine from the New York College of Holistic Medicine.  He currently works full time with a doctor performing acupuncture as well as herbal medicine.

Ever since he started BJJ, Alex has been an active competitor in the sport and has traveled all around the country training and competing with the best there is.

George Lederer          Muay Thai Kickboxing Instructor

George is the head Muay Thai instructor at Vamos BJJ.  He has dedicated  many hours to learning Muay Thai and has traveled around the country searching for more knowledge and techniques to offer his students.  His abilities as a coach are second to none and many travel from all over Long Island to train with him.  He has a unique ability to convey his knowledge to his students and make the techniques easy to understand.  George works hard to sharpen and refine the skills of all the students that train at Vamos BJJ.  He also spars every week with the students to help them become more aware of the mistakes they are making and help them progress as Muay Thai practitioners. 

George is also an advanced blue belt in Brazilian Jiujtisu and a wrestling coach at a local school district.  His skills in both BJJ and Wrestling allow him to better apply and teach his Muay Thai to students interested in Mixed Martial Arts competition. 

Joe Scioli                 Wrestling and Takedown Instructor

When Joe is teaching class he has one goal in mind, to enhance and build your skills in Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling together.  Joe does a great job blending the two grappling arts to ensure improvement in takedowns and positional mat work.  Joe has been an active competitor for a long time and is a current active national competitor in Brazilian Jiujitsu and Submission Grappling tournaments all around the country.  He is also a purple belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Chris and Alex Vamos and knows how to adapt his wrestling techniques for the submission game.  Some of his wrestling achievments are:

2 x NJCAA Academic All-American
Former Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion
Former Nationally Ranked JuCo Competitor
