Brazilian Jiu jitsu ( BJJ ) is a ground fighting art that was first developed by the Gracie family in Brazil over 60 years ago. The Gracie’s started the early UFC events to show the practicality and importance of Brazilian Jiujitsu in real combat. Since then, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has become one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world. At Vamos Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu we offer teaching environments for :

  • Beginner – Zero Experience
  • Intermediate – Some Experience (wrestling included)
  • Advanced – Experienced Blue Belt+

How can a smaller person defeat a larger person?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was specifically developed to allow a smaller person to defeat a larger one by sophisticated application of leverage and technique. Gaining superior position on your opponent and applying a myriad of chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations becomes the foundation for this cutting edge fighting art.

      Functional Strength

      Unlike most gym exercises that use 1 or 2 muscle groups at a time, BJJ requires your body to move in a variety of planes of motion and will develop many muscle groups at once while helping to build your core and stabilization strength.

        Heart Health

        When training in BJJ you will increase your stamina, endurance and overall cardio health. The nature of the sport of BJJ will exercise both your heart and muscle groups since both are important aspects of BJJ success.

          Flexibility

          BJJ increases flexibility especially in the legs and core. Some submission holds require your legs to be flexible and over time, you will develop increased flexibility. Other positions require a lot of twisting motions which will help one’s core’s flexibility.

            Motivation

            Our extreme striking system specializes in teaching any level of experience from beginners, intermediate to advance students. This system is a combination of Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Karate. Learning the best from each art.

            Why learn kickboxing?

            On a physical level regular kickboxing will give you a well-proportioned physique, build stamina and get you in excellent shape. Fat will disappear and your complexion will improve. Kickboxing teaches you to defend yourself and toughens you up. You will gain greater strength and agility, and will benefit from an immune system boost. On a mental level the study of Muay Thai kickboxing will improve your self-confidence, discipline and self-awareness.

              Attributes of a kick boxer

              A kick boxer should be outwardly humble but maintain an unshakeable inner resolve. He should be honest and reliable, not proud or overconfident. He needs courage to become accustomed to pain and danger without fear. A genuine kick boxer will create unity, make himself useful to society, be a good patriot and avoid unruly behavior. A man (or woman) truly absorbed in the art of  kickboxing is always in control of his feelings. He is intelligent and wise. He is gentle as a lamb and fierce as a lion.

                Kids/Teens Programs

                At Vamos Mixed Martial Arts,  a good portion of our enrollment consists of children aged six to fifteen. Martial arts school industry standards suggest a lull in the age group from ten to fifteen years old. While many other martial art schools don’t have a large enrollment in this area, at Vamos Mixed Martial Arts our Youth/Teen Program is one of our most popular.

                We attribute this to our high-energy, fun, yet realistic classes, which include bringing some of the best instruction in the world to our schools. Each one of our teachers is put through a rigorous training course, resulting in some of the best coaches in the world for this age group.

                Kids/Teens Programs

                Age-Specific classes We understand that different maturity levels require different approaches to teaching. This is why we have created three separate programs, one for young children, the next for slightly older children and a third for youth and younger teens. We pride ourselves on making sure our classes are fun, exciting and relevant to each and every student, regardless of age or ability.

                Improving self-esteem

                At Vamos Mixed Martial Arts, we do not take belt promotion lightly. We do everything in our power to teach students to be patient, determined, and goal oriented, so when they do earn their belts, they feel a great sense of accomplishment that really boosts their confidence and self esteem.

                We teaches discipline

                Our amazing, highly trained staff of patient instructors love to work with children. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and expect the same kind of behavior at home and in school. Our ultimate goal is to help you raise children that are unstoppable in everything they attempt. We have developed methods to capture children’s imaginations while teaching them skills that will change their lives forever.

                  Self Defense

                  Self defense is based on simple principles, intended to teach methods that are effective for personal protection. The advantage of training Brazilian Jiujitsu is that you will learn how to control and overcome greater size, strength, and aggression using technique and leverage. At Vamos MMA we offer a well rounded self defense program so you will be prepared to defend yourself in a threatening situation.

                  MMA & Competition

                  Our MMA program focuses on intermediate to advanced students. Whether it is in the cage or out in public , our mma classes will get you ready and help you stay prepared. You will be using all three arts of grappling, striking, and wrestling to be efficient in any situation.

                  Judo

                  Judo, which means “gentle way” in Japanese, is a martial art created in Japan by Jigoro Kano in 1882.  It was derived from the ancient techniques of jiu-jitsu. It is the most widely-practiced martial art in the world, and the second-most practiced sport worldwide behind soccer.  The combat sport develops self-discipline and lays its foundation on respect for one’s self and others.
